I understood all, heard all,
had my meal to the sounds of radio and went out.
The january day outside glittered
in the sunlight of the snow mirrors.
The thawed patches were breathing
heat,
the asphalt was brash and vivid,
and every track on the snow heap
stood out like an epaulet.
Their maws merrily agape,
dogs of every discription were chasing each other,
and shadow cast a ragged net
to entangle the passers by.
Lying on my back at the end
of day,
as if a chance to keep it in memory,
I saw again the setting sun
on chimneys,
through a pale outline of smoke.
I understood all, heard all,
had my meal to the sounds of radio and went out.
